Hydrostatic Testing & Cylinder Re-inspection
A fire extinguisher shell is a pressure vessel. After years in service it must be proven that it can still withstand its working pressure. This is done by hydrostatic test — and only at an approved re-inspection centre.
What it includes
- Full discharge and dismantling of the unit
- Internal and external visual inspection of the vessel
- Hydrostatic test at the specified pressure
- Rejection of vessels that do not meet the criteria
- Reassembly, refilling and re-inspection marking
- Issue of re-inspection certificate

Frequently asked questions
What clients usually ask
Why is annual maintenance not enough?
Maintenance checks functionality. The hydrostatic test checks the pressure resistance of the vessel itself — something a visual inspection cannot reveal.
Do you have your own re-inspection centre?
Yes. We operate our own re-inspection centre, approved by EUROCERT under No. 10.13.0208, for welded steel extinguisher cylinders (dry powder, foam/water, wet chemical). CO₂ extinguishers and other high-pressure cylinders are tested at an approved re-inspection centre — we handle collection and return.
How can I tell an extinguisher has passed a hydrostatic test?
From the re-inspection centre's engraving on the cylinder: GR, the centre's symbol and the year/month of the test (to ISO 13769). On thin-walled vessels, such as powder extinguishers, it is engraved on an indelible aluminium label. A sticker on the body shows the next test date.
What happens if a vessel fails the test?
It is destroyed and replaced. We inform you before any replacement charge.
Which areas do you cover for cylinder hydrostatic testing?
All of Greece.
