Application

Data centres & computer rooms

Clean-agent suppression that leaves no residue and does not damage equipment, with very early detection.

What we install & maintain

The systems for this type of space

In a data centre fire is not the only risk: water damage and downtime cost just as much. Fire protection is designed to detect smoke very early and to extinguish without damaging the equipment. We handle design, supply, installation and maintenance — together with video surveillance and access control.

Regulatory framework

What governs this type of space

Operating frameworkThere is no Fire Service Ordinance specific to data centres. Data centres do, however, have their own operating framework: JMD 96038/2024 (FEK B' 7589/2024) and Chapter MG of Law 4442/2016. An active fire-safety certificate is required where the rated electrical power of the IT equipment is at least 200 kW (services to third parties, partly or exclusively) or at least 1,000 kW (own use). Equipment rooms are designed to the relevant standards and the fire study.
Suppression standardsEN 15004 / ISO 14520 for gaseous suppression; NFPA 12 for CO₂ (Fire Service Ordinance 15/2014, 3.4.4) · ISO 15779 / EN 15276 (formerly CEN/TR 15276) for aerosol (3.4.5) · EN 12094 for control panels and components.
Detection standardsEN 54 for fire detection; EN 54-20 for aspirating smoke detection.
Instead of waterWhere the code requires sprinklers but water is unsuitable, an automatic system with another agent is allowed (P.D. 41/2018, Ch. A, 7.2.3).
Portable CO₂Placed near electrical and mechanical installations and computer rooms (Fire Service Ordinance 15/2014, 4.1.1.2).

Which framework binds a given building depends on the date the building permit was applied for and on its occupancy classification. The binding requirement comes from the approved fire-safety study.

Local fire suppression systems for commercial kitchens, aerosol fire suppression in electrical panels and rooms, and a computer room fire suppression system.

Frequently asked questions

Data centres & computer rooms — what clients ask us

Gas or aerosol for the server room?

Both extinguish without water. The choice is made in the fire study, depending on how airtight the room is, whether people are present, space for cylinders and piping, and the equipment being protected.

Why aspirating smoke detection?

Because it detects smoke at very low concentrations, before it is visible, even in rooms with strong cooling airflow where point detectors react later.

Do you maintain the system after handover?

Yes — annual maintenance of the complete system: panel, detectors, cylinders, nozzles, actuators. Cylinder weighing and, when needed, refilling and hydrostatic testing at an approved re-inspection centre.
