COSCO Container Terminal, Piraeus
Firefighting and gas detection systems at COSCO's container terminal (PCT) in the Port of Piraeus.
Application
Ports, terminals and Piraeus shipping companies — plus supply of fire-fighting equipment for vessels.
What we install & maintain
A port brings together two worlds: the buildings on shore, which follow building fire codes, and ships, which follow international rules. At shore facilities we handle fire water networks, fire detection and extinguisher maintenance; for ships we supply MED-certified equipment.
Fixed fire water networks, fire hose cabinets and sprinkler systems.
The service →Periodic inspection, maintenance and refilling of portable and wheeled fire extinguishers.
The service →Hydrostatic testing of extinguishers at our own certified centre; CO₂ and high-pressure cylinders at an approved re-inspection centre.
The service →Conventional and addressable systems, voice alarm to EN 54-16.
The service →Regulatory framework
| Shore facilities | Port buildings (warehouses, offices, passenger terminals) follow the code for their use: P.D. 41/2018 or P.D. 71/1988, or, as a rule, the Fire Service Ordinance for that use if the permit was applied for before 17-2-1989. A commercial port as an open area falls outside the scope of building and installation fire protection (Fire Service Ordinance 13/2021, art. 15(6)). Marinas (tourist ports for leisure craft) have their own Fire Service Ordinance 10/2002. |
|---|---|
| Ship equipment | Directive 2014/90/EU (MED): a certificate for the specific model and the MED mark (wheel mark) for EU-flagged ships. |
| International rules | SOLAS Chapter II-2 and the FSS Code for fire protection on board. |
Which framework binds a given building depends on the date the building permit was applied for and on its occupancy classification. The binding requirement comes from the approved fire-safety study.
